The Master of Science in Applied Accounting and Finance (MScAAF) programme is a unique master’s degree programme in Hong Kong that combines the best of both worlds in accounting and finance. It equips students with in-depth and up-to-date accounting and financial knowledge and develops their analytical, judgmental and conceptual abilities. Students also polish their practical and managerial skills, which will support their professional development and enhance their competitiveness in the job market.

The Master of Science in Applied Economics (MScAEcon) is a one-year full-time programme that equips students with economics knowledge to analyse the changing world economy.

The MScAEcon programme integrates economic theory with applied economic analysis, and will enable students to understand the economy of China and the world. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the flexibility of choosing electives for pursuing a career in applied economics or future research-oriented studies. Graduates will be equipped with analytical skills and techniques for analysing business and real-world problems from the economic perspective. Graduates are trained to be competent economic analysts in business corporations, public organisations and financial institutions. Outstanding students are offered scholarships and merit-based awards.

The Master of Science in Business Management (MScBM) programme empowers young executives and fresh graduates to leverage Hong Kong’s unique position to propel their careers. Combining a sound foundation in core business disciplines with the skills needed to succeed in the digital economy, the MScBM programme ensures graduates will thrive in today’s globalised business world.

The mission of the Master of Science in Corporate Governance and Compliance (MScCGC) programme is to provide specialised training and practical knowledge to prepare directors, company secretaries and compliance professionals for strengthening the sustainability and accountability of their organisations. The HKBU School of Business aims to achieve all of that with an expert teaching team and innovative curriculum.

Students will receive an all-rounded education in corporate governance to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex regulatory environment and ever-rising expectation of shareholders and stakeholders.

The MScCGC programme contains 8 core courses and 2 electives. It is available in both full-time and part-time modes to suit individual study preference. Qualified applicants who are interested in corporate governance of commercial companies and NGO are welcome.

Graduates of the MScCGC programme are eligible to apply for full exemption from the examination requirements of The Chartered Governance Institute (formerly The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators or ICSA) and The Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute (formerly The Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Secretaries or HKICS).

The rapid technological progress has dramatically altered the business landscape and job markets. A lot more companies are strategically searching for analytics-enabled people with business economics knowledge as well as statistical and programming skills for providing business insights and responding to changes in intellectual property policy, and competition and regulatory policies.

The Master of Science in Data Analytics and Business Economics (MScDABE) programme is thoughtfully designed to serve the increasing demand for talents in the areas of data analytics and business economics in Hong Kong and other parts of the world. It is a one-year full-time or two-year part-time programme that provides students with solid training in business economic analysis and data analytics. Students who are interested in becoming analytics-enabled professionals and data strategists are welcome to apply.

The Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing (MScEGM) is a 15-month full-time master’s programme designed for students who seek to advance into leadership roles in multinational corporations or to start a career as an entrepreneur. The curriculum is carefully designed to embrace a global view with case studies and business projects, which strengthen practical skills on entrepreneurship and global marketing.

With an aim to maximize personal growth and global exposure, the MScEGM programme prepares future business leaders for roles such as Marketing Specialist, Business Developer, Project Manager, R&D Manager, Brand Manager, as well as Consultant and Strategist for e-business and high-tech industries.

With the rise of disruptive technologies and the new generation of Big Data and FinTech, concepts of money, payments, identity, and security need to be looked at through a new lens. This inter-disciplinary programme taught by both Finance and Management Information Systems faculty will widen and deepen students’ understanding of the rapidly changing landscape and the impact of new technologies on traditional finance models. Students will be empowered with knowledge in Finance, FinTech, Financial Analytics, Machine Learning, Financial Computing, Textual Analysis, Cybersecurity, Privacy, Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Algorithmic Trading, Financial Fraud, and Regulatory Compliance. They will be well-prepared for the fast-growing demand of today’s data-driven economy, and will be able to take the Financial Industry to the next level.

The Master of Science in Finance (FinTech and Financial Analytics) (MScFTFA) programme provides flexibility with the options of completing the programme in one-year full-time mode or two-year part-time mode. The courses provide both in-depth knowledge and broad perspectives of the applications of FinTech and Financial Analytical tools to enable students to meet the continuing challenges in the rapidly transforming financial world. Students are required to complete 8 core courses (24 units) and 2 elective courses (6 units) for graduation.

The Master of Science in Marketing for the Creative Economy (MScMCE) programme is a one-year full-time programme offered by the School of Business in collaboration with the Academy of Visual Arts (AVA), Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). The programme rides on the rapid expansion of the creative economy in recent years and the trend of applying arts and cultural elements in business operations in industry practices. The MScMCE programme provides an interdisciplinary platform to nurture "Art x Marketing" talented individuals who are capable of managing, operating, administering, and promoting creative initiatives, projects, and policies within a globally competitive ecology by providing the necessary expertise in business and marketing to excel in this field.

Programme Features:

• A unique and interdisciplinary programme to cultivate creative and cultural leaders with knowledge that can be applied in retail market, entrepreneurship, creative industries, and arts administration and management.
• The MScMCE programme offers overseas immersion, which gives students the opportunity to join a two-week overseas field trip* during the summer term to broaden their experience and understanding of creative economies at an international level. A subsidy of HK$10,000 will be provided to every student for this field trip.
• Students get to solve real-life problems through the Creative Service-Learning Project. A subsidy of HK$5,000 will be provided to each student to support the Creative Service-Learning Project. Presentations will be conducted via a Virtual Symposium for students to exchange ideas with academics and practitioners across the globe.
